Ready for Arthur

July 15, 2014

Hurricane Arthur , a Category 2 hurricane and the earliest hurricane to make landfall in a North Carolina season, has passed without causing undue damage or injury. Preparations were made for shelters, canteens, high-water trucks, and food were staged in anticipation. Only one shelter was populated and it closed within 24 hours. Power was generally restored within 72 hours. Your North Carolina volunteer agencies were ready for disaster but fortunately damage was light.

Bracing for Arthur

July 2, 2014

Hurricane Arthur has been upgraded to Category 2 and threatens the Outer Banks. NCVOAD is preparing for Hurricane Arthur landfall. If Arthur makes landfall in North Carolina, it will make a new record for earliest hurricane landfall. Daily NC VOAD calls are scheduled and NC VOAD members have actively staged equipment and personnel.
